FTP Download/Upload with QlikView

by Stefan Stoichev on October 20, 2009

First of all I want to thank The Spark for the opportunity to contribute to his blog and wish him good luck!

For my first post I will present you a little QlikView application that can download qvw files from FTP servers.

During my daily job I work with remote teams and we had to find a way to efficiently exchange our QlikView applications.

Email was only solution in the begining,  but all that attaching and waiting made me a little angry (especially for big files)

I decided to build a little QV app from where the end user could easily get the files that he wanted.

And because I’m a little lazy there is another tab in the file from which files can be uploaded.

The file is password protected and there are two users avaialble – admin and user. If the user is logged the “Upload” tab is not visible, as this functionality is only available for the admin

I also built a simple log implementation that shows when and which files are uploaded or downloaded.

This is quick snapshot of the application and below you can see the instructions on how to use it.

ftpQV

FTP Settings are available from where can be be sett up ftp credentials. Settings that are available can be used from any one. Just mind that the folder is public and his quota is 100MB

Users and password:

user: admin

password: password

user: user

password: user

File can be downloaded from here.

I hope you will enjoy this application, and feel free to comment below. Feedback is more than welcome.
